Entering Data from the Class into MS Excel

The first Excel assignment is to gather data from the class and enter it into MS Excel.

1. Open up Microsoft Excel and create a new document. Save the document in your directory and give it a name with no spaces or capitol letters. Call it something like tech1_class_data.xls.
   
   
   
2. Next you will need to gather data on people in the class. We will be brainstorming categories in class and writing them on the board.
   
   
3. Once we have come up with the categories, I would like to to make a list of the categories on a piece of paper . You will be finding out how many students in the class fit into each category. I would like to to think about how to organize the gathering of the data. One suggestion is to create a table and list the categories at the top of the columns. Then in the left hand column you could write the students names.
