Saving Images From a Web Browser and Preparing Images to be placed on your CDRom Portfolio or a Web Page!

  1. Open SeaMonkey or Firefox Web Browser and go to the Web Site that you are going to get the picture from.

  2. Click on the thumbnail version of the picture so that you can see the large version of the picture. If you have a picture that you have taken you could use one of those pictures by copying it from a USB drive or your phone.

  3. Once you have found a picture that you want to put on your web page, follow the directions below web that tell how to save a picture from a web browser.

  4. Right Click on the Image that you want to save.

  5. Click on Save Image As

  6. In the windows that pops up, click on the little arrow and find your home named directory (i.e. rlamothe) on the H drive, then find your grade directory, and save the picture in your images directory that is under your grade directory. You can rename the photo if you like so that you will know what the image is.

If you need more details on how to find your directory and save files there, go to:
    Instructions for Creating Directories
    Saving Files, Copying Files

  7. Open Adobe Photoshop, then open the image. At that point you will want to do a save as and save the images with a different name. The reason for doing a save as is that you always want to KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL in case you want to start again with the original image.

  8. Once you have done a save as of the image, you can start to apply filters to it, add additional pieces of images that you lassoed out of other images, or use any additional photoshop techniques that you discover.

BE CREATIVE AND EXPERIMENT. CREATE MORE THAN ONE VERSION WITH DIFFERENT LOOKS AND EFFECTS.
BELOW HERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO MODIFY YOUR IMAGES TO BE PLACED ON YOUR CD ROM PORTFOLIO OR A WEB SITE WHICH YOU WILL BE DOING LATER.

  9. Next, you have to resize the picture using a graphics editor. Go to Start, then Programs, then Microsoft Office Tools, then Microsoft Photo Editor.

  10. Go to File, then Open, the find your image in your images directory and open it.

  11. At the top click on Image then Resize.

  12. In that little window, where it says Units change it from Inches to Pixels.

  13. Where it says Width, change it to say 300 which means that your picture will be 300 pixels wide. You will notice that the height is automatically changed for you. Click ok.

  14. Then click File, then Save or click on the little icon of the disk. If you opened it from your images directory, it should still be saved in YOUR images directory.

  15. Now it is time to place it onto your web page using Macromedia Dreamweaver. Open Dreamweaver, then open your index.html page which is your HOME web page.

  16. Follow the directions on the below web page on how to place an image on a web page:
Placing Images on a Web Page Using Dreamweaver!
