MS Excel Directions for Creating Charts/Graphs

  1. Open MS Excel

  2. Open the excel file for Question 1 of the pollution survey that you exported from MS Access


  3. Highlight only the cells that have writing or data in them. Please be sure not to highlight empty cells. See example below.

  4. Click on the Graph Icon to begin graphing your question.

  5. Choose Column for your Chart Type.

  6. Choose Row for your Chart Source Data.

  7. Fill in your Category X axis and Category Y Axis.
    NOTE: Each chart has a different description for the Category X Axis which is along the bottom. The Category Y Axis which is along the side. That should remain "How Many". Look at the answers and try to come up with the X axis description based on the X axis from the first question.

  8. Choose the Chart Location to be As Object In. and then click Finish.

  10. REPEAT STEPS 2 TO 8 FOR ALL 5 SURVEY QUESTIONS.
