| Where to Save Files!
Instructions for directories (folders)
students, teachers, and staff!
You will need to save your files on
the network drive that is called the H drive. On the H drive
you need to create a directory that uses your first letter
of your first name and your last name, ie, my name is Robert
Lamothe so my directory will be named rlamothe.
(see picture below) Under that directory you also need
to create a directory for the grade that you are currently
in. For example, if you are in the third
grade, you will need to create a directory
called grade3.
Under that directory, you will need to create an images directory.
called images.
- SAVE WEB FILES IN YOUR GRADE DIRECTORY – Any computer
file that you create should be saved in your grade directory,
i.e., grade3.
Web files usually end with the file extension .htm or .html.
Only your index file should have the letter L at the end.
For example, index.html. All other web files should end
with .htm. For example, your Memoir web file might be named
something like memoir_rlamothe.htm.
- SAVE IMAGE FILES IN YOUR IMAGES DIRECTORY. Any image file,
also called a graphic file, should be saved in your images
directory that is under your grade name direcory. For example,
a web pages use files that end with the extension .jpg or
.gif. These files are created with Applications such as
Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
- Optional: SAVE MS WORD DOCS IN YOUR DOCS DIRECTORY - If
you create a Microsoft Word document, you could create a
separate directory under your grade directory called docs.
