MS Access Database Directions

  1. Open MSAccess

  2. Click on the Blank Access Database then click OK

  3. Save it in your grade directory and call it something like
    pollution_survey_database.mdb

  4. Click on Design then Create Table in Design View

  5. Type in Question1 as your first field name. NOTE: NO SPACES IN YOUR FIELD NAMES

  6. First, click on the Data Type cell and chose Memo for your Data Type.

  7. Type in additional field type that are the answers to your question. The answer choices for question 1 are Very Important, Important, and Not Very Important. Change the Data Type to NUMBER. See graphic below.

  8. Click File then Save and the table a name something like surveyquestion1. NO SPACES PLEASE IN THE NAME OF THE TABLE. Answer No when it asks if you want a primary key.

  9. REPEAT STEPS 4 TO 8 FOR ALL 5 SURVEY QUESTIONS.

    NOW IT TIME TO ENTER YOUR DATA FOR ALL 5 QUESTIONS

  10. Go to this link to open the list of questions to the Pollution Survey. Use this page to copy the questions and answer choices to paste into your database talbles choices. Highlight Question 1, right click on it, and click copy.

  11. Switch back to MSAccess. Double click on surveyquestion1 table to begin entering data.

  12. Click into the first cell under Question 1 and paste the question by right clicking and click paste. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE NUMBERS YOU SEE IN THIS PICTURE. The actual survey results will be posted up front.

  13. Repeate Steps 10, 11, and 12 for all 5 survery question tables.
