Welcome to Mr. Lamothe's Snowden Technology Classes

OBJECTIVE:Your objective is to create link buttons and pages for your pollution project.

Today we are returning to working on creating link buttons in Photoshop for your research project on pollution. You will also be creating pages in Mediator Pro for the three documents that you did on pollutions. See step by step instructions below.

  1. Open Adobe Photoshop and create 3 new buttons that are 200 pixels wide by 50 pixels high. See list of buttons below.
    • Button with the name of your slideshow
    • Internet Research on (name of your project)
    • Word Map of (name of your project)
  2. Create a Sub-Banner Heading for your Polution Project that has the title of your project, ie. Carbon Emmissions. The Sub-Banner should be approximately 300 pixels wide by 100 high.
  3. Creat a link button to a cdrom page that will be for your links to your project. The button should say some like Pollution Project. Make that button the same size as your other cdrom page links such as your Home button, your Writigs button. Probably the size will be 150 pixels wide by 25 pixels high.
  4. Save all the buttons first as a photoshop .psd file, then save it as a .jpg file
  5. Open Mediator Pro and open you cdrom project.
  6. Create a new page that is called something like pollution_project. No space in page name please.
  7. Create two more pages, one with a name something like internet_research and another with a name something like, inspiration_word_map. You won't need a third page for your slideshow becaues you will be linking directly to the Power Point slideshow. We will go over how to link to it at a later time.

A NOTE ABOUT GRADES: You will be receiving your grades for term 1 shortly. I have been seeing some great work. I also have seen students that need to increase their effort to be able to accomplish the work that has been assigned. Pleae remember, YOU gave YOURSELF the grade based upon what YOU did or didn't do.

A great deal of the grade depends on the effort and work you do in class. If you have been working hard and have accomplished most of the assignments than you should be in good shape. If there has been a number of times when you were not working, and you have not completed most of the work, then I would be VERY concerned and would therefore be extra concerned to be ON TASK for term 2. PLEASE NOTE, all work that has been assigned in TERM 1 is due at the end of this course which ends in January 2009.

Tech Lit DO NOW

Welcome to Mr. Lamothe's Snowden Technology Classes

OBJECTIVE:Your objective for today is to write a personal video introduction for your CD Rom Portfolio.

Please work on writing a personal video introduction for your CDRom portfolio. It should include information about your goals and dreams for your life and for the world. Imagine that you are telling someone all about you and what you are like, what your talents are, what you have accomplished in your life. Please give many details and try to make it as interesting as possible. It should show your viewers WHO you are as a person. You will be filming your introduction and eventually placing it on your CDRom portfolio. It needs to be at least 1 minute long.

You will be filmed in front of a blue/green screen similar to the way they do it in Hollywood movies. In place of the blue background color you will be putting other video footage and/or still photos that are related to what you are saying in your introduction.

Please open up Microsoft Word to write your video introduction. The first thing you should do when you create a new document is to save it on your H Drive (Network Drive) in your grade directory, i.e. grade9, grade10 etc.

When you have finished with your first draft please follow the folling recommendations

  1. Time your intro so that it is at least 1 minute long. Say it softly to yourself when practicing.
  2. Practice, practice, practice, until you can read it smoothly. Read it at a medium pace, not to fast, not too slow.
  3. Make the font so that it is around size 42.
