Learning About Filters - Applying Filters to Photos - Lesson 6


OBJECTIVE: Your objective this week is to experiment with using Photoshop filters on photographs. This week you are going to work with using Adobe Photoshop Filters on Photographs that you have taken one that you save from the school web site.


1. Open Photoshop, then open a picture in your images directory. If you don't have a picture in your images directory, go to the school web site http://www.youngachieversschool.org and save a couple to your images directory on your H drive. If you want to know how to save images from a web browser, go to How to Save an Image from a Web Browser


2. Click File, then Save As, and save it as a photoshop file with a new name. for instructions on how to save an images from a web browser, go to:

3. Once the image is saved with a new name as a Photoshop file, click on Filter at the top and you will see several filters listed there such as Artistic, Brush Strokes, Texture, etc. Experiment with the different filters.


4. Open another photo and use the lasso tool to get sections of the image, ie, a picture of a person, copy that to the clipboard.


5. Go to your original photo and paste the lassoed section into the photograph.


6. Experiment with making a collage of images.
