Conversation, critical thinking, and collaborations will be fostered
as a result of addressing one of our most serious social and political
issues. Students will use visual arts and technology as a means to express
their ideas and communicate with others around this topic. This conference
is part of a curriculum being developed by teachers in Massachusetts,
New York, and Ohio in conjunction with the Center for Policy at the McCormack
Institute at Umass.
This is alos part of the Give US Your Poor: Homelessness and the U. S.
project designed to create public awareness of this issue and to stimulate
solutions through the idea of community.
It is being funded in part through an IMPACT II Service Learning and
Technology Grant. Video, photography, and art work will be on public display
as a result of this project. The event will also be filmed by students
and made into movies on homelessness.
