Metro/Region BROCKTON - Officials said a
homeless man was found dead Wednesday, possibly the second
homeless death in the Boston area during the recent
deep-freeze. The man, whose name was not released, was found by
firefighters near the Deftos Liquor Store in Brockton.
"When they arrived, it was obvious that the gentleman had
been deceased for quite a while," said Fire Chief Tom Stone of the
Easton department. Firefighters discovered the man while responding
to a call about a fire.
The cause or time of death has not been determined, said
Brockton police Lieutenant William Conlon, but foul play is not
suspected.
Dennis Carman, executive director of the MainSpring Coalition
for the Homeless in Brockton, said the victim had come to the
shelter in the past.
